Welcome to the Porter County Poppers page.
We are a USPSA/IPSC affiliate club (IN20) in Northwest Indiana.

The United States Practical Shooting Association is a non-profit membership association. Most of the more than 15,000 individual members belong to and regularly compete at one of the nearly 400 affiliated clubs and sections (groups of clubs banded together for mutual benefit) located across the United States.

USPSA is affiliated with the International Practical Shooting Confederation (IPSC), which is comprised of organizations in approximately 67 nations. USPSA is the American region of IPSC.
For 2008, USPSA now has its own distinct rulebook separate from the IPSC one.

Porter County Poppers is a member of the Indiana Section of USPSA.  The Indiana Section is made up of eight clubs across the state.

USPSA matches offer fast action over varied courses of fire, with several equipment divisions to allow almost any medium or high power centerfire pistol to compete.
There are classes for shooters of all experience levels from the newest of newbies to grand master-level experts.
Courses may range from six to 36 rounds expended, with speed, accuracy, and power all factoring into the equation.  Many include movement by the shooter over the course, with barricades, ports, and other setup props to vary the action.
Someone wishing to try USPSA action pistol needs just a few things to get started- a centerfire handgun of .38/9mm caliber or greater, at least three magazines (four or five is better) or speedloaders and carriers for same, a safe holster, and at least 150 rounds of ammunition (for regular club-level matches).
No membership or special training is needed.  What we do recommend, though, is to come a bit early and let us know that you're new.  We'll walk you through the whole thing.

We use a "stage director" method of producing our USPSA stages.  Each bay, each month, is designed and organized by one person.  We're looking for stage directors for the balance of the season, so if you have an idea or would like to help out with the setup, please get in touch.

For further information, contact Bill Z.

Matches are first Sunday of the month at 9am Central Time.  Match fees are $15 for regular matches.
Setup on the Saturday before, includes shoot-through and reduced match fee of $10
