Welcome to NPCCC
Steel Plates
Matches will
start at 9:00 am Central, which is also "Chicago time".
Setup time is 7:00am.
Match fee is $10.
Every second Saturday of the month, April through November,
NPCCC hosts our monthly Steel Plates match
with match directors Bud Scott
and Bill Kucek.
To shoot the match
clean will take about 80-100 rounds most months. As they say, bring more!
There typically will be five courses of fire of five or six rounds, at various
distances, heights, and arrangements.
Each is shot three times with the best two times counting for score.
There will be multiple divisions: Limited, Open, Revolver, and 22 rimfire (great
for youth and new shooters!).
Single stack will be added for the higher-round count matches.
Set up will start at 7am on Saturday. before the match, and we
could use some extra hands to set up.
Sign up is at 0830am and the match starts at 9am. Come out this weekend and
enjoy a great day of steel plate competition at North Porter County! See you
there!
Bring at least 170 rounds of ammunition and three magazines or speed loaders
(six is better), plus appropriate magazine or loader belt carriers.
Proposed divisions:
Open, Limited, Revolver, and Rimfire (especially for youth and new shooters).

The match is shot from
the holster while the shooter stands in a box.
This makes this type of match the best for first-timers since no movement
or other complexities are involved.
The rimfire division allows an easy start for youngsters and other newer
shooters, too.
New shooters or shooters with special challenges may elect to start from a
non-holstered, low-ready position.
We are also willing to make accommodations for other needs, so just ask.
Hope to see you all at the next match!
A note to new shooters and our guests visiting for NPCCC for the first time-
If you have never participated in a pistol shooting match, the Steel Plate Challenge is the ideal "first match" for you. There is little or no movement around the course required. The setups are all in sight and easy to understand.
Also, if you are new to shooting
competitions or are unfamiliar with matches and range rules in general, we ask
that you arrive early to spend a few minutes with a veteran instructor to show
you the basics and explain the range rules.
The most important of the range rules
is that North Porter CCC is a "cold range" on match days.
No handling of firearms except at these
three locations:
The firing line, under the explicit order of the range officer;
The marked Safety Area, where guns may be uncased, worked on, dry-fired and
re-cased.
NO ammunition is permitted in the Safety Area;
The Unloading Table, just west of the Safety Area, where those arriving with
loaded guns can unload them prior to entering the match range area or Safety
area.
Thank you for your consideration of these range safety rules.
