Welcome to the NPCCC IDPA Web page.
Matches are at 9am Central Time on the third Sunday of every month, year-round.

The North Porter County Conservation Club holds its International Defensive Pistol Association matches on the third Sunday of every month.
Please note these are outdoor matches and weather and range conditions may be a factor, especially in the cold weather months.  Cancellation is a possibility if range condtions or extreme weather make it necessary.

IDPA matches are intended to more closely replicate real-life defensive situations.  The equipment  emphasis is more towards daily-carry guns and rigs.  Most stages are shot from concealment, i.e., with the gun concealed under a garment as it would be in ordinary life.

Bring a jacket or a shirt to use for concealment.  Match round counts (how many shots are the minimum required to complete the course) typically run 70-100; be sure to bring at least 150 to make sure you're covered.  Matches usually have 4 or 5 stages of fire.

Registration starts at 8:30am; starting time for the matches will be 9:00 am  Central time, "Chicago time".
The exceptions are December, January, and February, when we will start at 10amCST.
We are also looking for volunteers to help set up the props and targets. The gate will be open at 7:30 am, so come out early and help set up.

IDPA has issued a new set of rule revisions in July, 2010.
These are mostly minor adjustments to competition procedures and equipment rules.  Clarification of other rules such as tac-sequence and ammunition carriers are included.  Blind stages are eliminated.
Addditionally, IDPA has finalized its provisional multi-gun rules and these are now in place.
See the idpa.com site for more.

If you have not previously competed at NPCCC, we ask that you come a few minutes earlier and ask at the sign-up table for a range familiarization safety session, a quick run-through of our range rules and customs.  This will make your first trip here easier to take in and help us meet our visitors.

The first range rule is that North Porter is a "cold range" on match days.
No handling of firearms except at these three locations:
The firing line, under the explicit order of the range officer;
The marked Safety Area, where guns may be uncased, worked on, dry-fired and re-cased.
NO ammunition is permitted in the Safety Area;
The Unloading Table, just west of the Safety Area, where those arriving with loaded guns can unload them prior to entering the match range area or Safety area.
Thank you for your consideration of these range safety rules.

If you are altogether new to pistol match shooting, please let us know when you arrive.  New competitors are welcome at North Porter CCC and we want to make sure you have plenty of assistance to get started in shooting competition.  These are fun and safe matches, and there will always be lots of support for those learning how to compete.
It's not hard to start, and you'll be a far more accomplished and confident shooter and gun handler once you've been through a couple of matches.

Please note that we're not scheduling "IDPA" tac rifle matches or side matches in favor of NPCCC's new multigun matches on certain fourth Sundays.  Stay tuned!
